We women and girls have such beautiful hearts. We have a capacity for compassion and empathy that does not always subside with pain and time. That is why we have to guard our hearts and be good stewards of our own empathy and compassion at all times.

Safety, good health, and dignity are for women and girls too.

Quoting the great Maya Angelou:

“I learned a long time ago the wisest thing I can do is be on my own side, be an advocate for myself and others like me, if I do that well enough, then I’ll be able to look after someone else — the children or the husband or the elderly.

But I have to look after myself first.
